I don't want to sound like a sore loser, but I'm fairly certain that belleek is a made up word. Being the cunning linguist that I am, I went on to this mode, but then failed to beat level 1 after failing to unravel the word "belleek". What's great is that once you've decided that you're too hardcore for regular anagrams, you can move onto the "expert words". The key in every game is to pound out anagrams, using as many words as you can possibly use, in speeds slightly faster than your brain is supposed to think. Ok, now that we've gotten past that, it's back to the review.Īs I was saying before, all three of the minigames in Jumbline 2 are variations of the same thing. For example, if you had the letters, DSOWR, you could make the words, SWORD, WORDS, WORD, ROWS, RODS, etc. Anagrams are word jumbles that you have to mix up to find real words. Here's a quick recap of what an anagram is, because some of us have been out of 1st grade for too long to remember. Jumbline 2 is a word puzzle game that is comprised of three word puzzle minigames, all three of which are variations of the same anagram game. Better is what we're striving for though, and word puzzles have a bit more jive than the average chicken. Now with crisp retina displays and fancy processors that would make my $3,000 computer circa 1997 jealous, iPhone gaming has moved on to bigger and, well, bigger things. Unlike other genres, word genres were the perfect storm for the original iPhone, a slightly underpowered gaming system that was owned by the masses. Word puzzles, along with tower defense and line drawing games, were the coolest things in the beginning stages of the app store.

Fighting games subsequently became the preeminent genre for competitive video gaming in the early to mid-1990s, particularly in arcades. In 1987, Capcom's Street Fighter introduced special attacks, and in 1991, its highly successful sequel Street Fighter II refined and popularized many of the conventions of the genre, including the introduction of the concept of combos. Released later the same year, Yie Ar Kung-Fu featured antagonists with differing fighting styles and introduced health meters, while The Way of the Exploding Fist, which was released the following year, further popularized the genre on home systems. The first video game to feature fist fighting was Heavyweight Champ in 1976, but it was Karate Champ that popularized the one-on-one fighting game genre in arcades in 1984. Some games, such as Tekken, also allow limited movement in 3D space. Characters can navigate this plane horizontally by walking or dashing, and vertically by jumping. The fighting game genre is related to, but distinct from, the beat 'em up genre, which pits large numbers of computer-controlled enemies against one or more player characters.īattles in fighting games usually take place in a fixed-size arena along a two-dimensional plane, to which the characters' movement is restricted. Characters generally engage in battle using hand-to-hand combat-often some form of martial arts. Fighting game combat often features mechanics such as blocking, grappling, counter-attacking, and chaining attacks together into " combos". A fighting game, also known as a versus fighting game, is a genre of video game that involves combat between two or more players. If I had to choose one I would choose Transmission. Utorrent or transmission for mac mac osx#Thankfully these are both great torrent apps for use on Mac OSX Lion. This really comes down to individual user preference but I generally like more info rather than less so for me uTorrent gets the nod. Transmission is very minimalistic and “Mac like” while uTorrent provides you with loads of information. User InterfaceĮach client takes a totally different approach to user interface and content presentation. Transmission open source and is available on Mac, GTK+ and Qt as well as being ported to a variety of platforms. UTorrent is readily available on Windows and Mac. uTorrent gets a small win here since I prefer its speed reporting and graphing capabilities vs. Speeds were comparable, neither provided an extreme DL boost compared to the other. Neither had any problems solidly downloading a variety of legal torrents. Performance:īoth clients performed admirably in my tests. However, the next time I am doing development work in my VMWare Mac OSX installation I will try to take screenshots and update the article. *Note: I returned my MacBook Air so I have not been able to add the screenshots and UI comparisons that I wanted to. The top candidates: uTorrent and Transmission WANTED – a good Torrent client for Macįirst up, a good Torrent client. So I did what I never thought I would, I bought a Mac.Īfter all that, I will get to the point… since I am playing with Mac OSX a bit (before probably switching to Win 7 on bootcamp or VMWare Fusion) I need replacements for some of my “go to” apps. Well, they re-added the backlit keyboard and they also put in some spicy new CPUs and nice big SSD options. I had known the MacBook Airs were good little computers for quite some time, but after they did away with the backlit keyboard a while back I scratched them off of my “short list” of top notebook. It is the best ultralight travel computer I could find. Specifically a MacBook Air 11.6″ notebook. The top candidates: uTorrent and Transmission. Transmission is a great torrent application for Mac. It’s simple to use and free (we’re not paid to say this). In this article, we’ll tell you about our favorite application, Transmission. Utorrent or transmission for mac for mac#There are various torrent applications available for Mac users. Each is used to download and share files over the internet and each Mac BitTorrent client offers something different. Torrent clients enable you to download torrent files or use torrent magnet links. 4K gaming is a stretch on the desktop 1070, and that carries over here, but this card is more-than VR ready. The one outlier was Grand Theft Auto V, which dropped down to 65.3FPS vs. 76.6FPS and 64.4FPS in Crysis 3 (1080p very high) vs. 79.7FPS on the 1070 76.2FPS in The Division (1080p ultra) vs. We're talking 77FPS in The Witcher 3 (1080p maxed settings, no HairWorks) vs. In nearly every test we saw, it got within a couple of percentiles of the desktop card. When faced off against the desktop 1070, the 1070 holds its own. #Vr desktop with 1080 p invidia card software#Memory is the same - 8GB 8Gbps GDDR5 - and it too benefits from both the Pascal architecture itself and the new software features that come with it. the desktop's 1,920, but again they're clocked slower (1,442MHz vs. You've actually got slightly more in the way of CUDA cores - 2,048 vs. Just like the 1080, the 1070 matches its desktop sibling in many ways. NVIDIA says this chip will fit into any chassis that currently handles the 980M, which covers a lot of laptops. That's fine for those already used to carrying around behemoths on the go, but plenty of gamers prefer something more portable. Whatever the battery savings possible, though, it won't change the fact that the 1080M is only going to slide into big laptops. 30FPS), and downclocks the GPU appropriately to save power - if your card is capable of pushing 147FPS plugged in, that's going to be a fair amount of power saved. Chief among these is BatteryBoost, which allows you to set a framerate (i.e. NVIDIA has tech that counters that heavy power load when you're not plugged in, of course. We don't know its exact TDP yet, but given the near-identical desktop version runs at 180W, you'd imagine it's got to be at least 150W. The major drawback for the 1080 is power. You can disable notifications at any time in your settings menu. NVIDIA is really pushing 120Hz gaming, and many of the first crop of Pascal laptops will have 120Hz G-Sync displays. #Vr desktop with 1080 p invidia card 1080p#Those are the 1080M's FPS figures when playing at 1080p with "ultra" settings at 120Hz. If you want an idea what those specs translate to in real-world performance, how's this: when paired with an i7-6700HQ (a quad-core 2.6GHz chip with 3.5GHz turbo), Mirror's Edge Catalyst, 126 Overwatch, 147 Doom, 145 Metro Last Light, 130 Rise of the Tomb Raider, 125. That means simultaneous multi-projection, VRWorks, Ansel and the rest. The two do share the same boost clock (1,733MHz) though, and both have access to all the new technology introduced for the Pascal architecture. The only difference is clock speed: it's set at 1,556MHz, while the desktop version is 1,607MHz. The top-of-the-line laptop 1080 has 2,560 CUDA cores and 8GB of 10Gbps GDDR5x memory. Now, it's bringing mobile versions of those cards that match their desktop counterparts in almost every area - including being VR ready. That flagship card was joined by the GTX 1070 and GTX 1060, two lower-power cards based on the same 16nm Pascal architecture at a much more affordable price. With the GeForce GTX 1080, NVIDIA pushed the boundaries of what a $600 graphics card can do. |
